Iraq Blogger

As the United States attempts to stand down in Iraq and debates an increase in troops for Afghanistan, we thought it would be worth revisiting the story of U-S Army Major Andrew Olmsted. He's a soldier with Wisconsin connections and the first U-S casualty in Iraq last year.

Michael Perry on Parade

Michael Perry's first essay for In Wisconsin. A recovering farm boy, he has a fondness for trucks and tractors and he reached the epicenter of that intrigue when he joined the International Harvester Parade in Madison.

Nut Picker

Roger Lange and his son Brandon have been picking up tree nuts from lawns and parks since the boy was two. It's tempting to say they're nuts about nuts. Brandon turned 14 this summer and set out with his father to gather up another profitable crop with their push harvesters.

Necedah Animals

A look at the amazing creatures that call the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge their home. The savanna, sedge meadows, and upland hardwood timber habitats attract a wide range of wildlife. The 43-thousand acre refuge is located in Juneau County.

Sheboygan Dairy Farmer

In our on-going "Money Matters" series, In Wisconsin's Frederica Freyberg found out farmers are still waiting for economic recovery down on the farm. This story is part of a much larger reporting project called Patchwork Nation.
