SMITH RAPIDS COVERED BRIDGE
IN WISCONSIN REPORTS

The Smith Rapids Covered Bridge, which spans the south fork of the Flambeau River, is the first glue-laminated town lattice style covered bridge built in America by the U.S. Forest Service.  It is also the first Town Lattice Truss Bridge to be constructed in Wisconsin in over 100 years.  The bridge spasm the 90 foot wide South Fork of the Flambeau River at the crossing of the Smith Rapids campground which has been remodeled to accommodate equestrian users.

Patty Loew:
And finally this week, we take you to Price County for a closer look at the Smith Rapids covered bridge. Constructed in 1991, the bridge uses a diamond-shaped truss pattern. It allows you to travel over the south fork of the Flambeau River and is adjacent to the Nicolet National Forest. It's located on a 13-mile loop designated as a Wisconsin rustic road. Have a great week in Wisconsin.
